Titlul prezentarii:

Laser-matter interaction: the cost-efficient and eco-friendly approach in materials science and technology

Rezumatul prezentarii:

The study of phenomena induced by laser radiation, in continuous or in pulsed modes, on solid surfaces or in liquids, is a widely explored subject of modern solid-state physics and chemistry. Since the advent of the first laser in the 1960s, a large number of scientific studies have been devoted to investigate the various types of laser-matter processes. Today, as the laser techniques are already facilitating cost-efficient and environmentally friendly designs through the optimal processing of materials, much attention is paid to micro- and nano-systems and devices, with direct applications in electronics, energy storage and conversion, as well as for the sensory. Processes such as the pulsed laser deposition (PLD), the matrix-assisted pulsed laser evaporation (MAPLE), the laser-induced forward transfer (LIFT), and the laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), are just a few of the techniques presented and discussed here. Furthermore, laser interaction with hard, soft and smart materials, targeting future applications to biomedicine, as well as recent advances in fundamental mechanisms, are also discussed.
